TAP GRIP® FASTENER

Tap-Grip® Fastener

\If you are working with structural concrete and masonry blocks, TruFast's Tap Grip® fastener gives you top performance.

Simple to install, the Tap-Grip® fastener taps its own threads into predrilled concrete, brick or block providing significant holding power. And with its unique thread configuration penetration is easier. The point also helps in self-alignment.

Below are several features that highlight our Tap-Grip® fastener.

  • Does not require inserts to be installed first.
  • Can be removed and reinstalled.
  • Tap Grip® fasteners, with bugle head recessed #3 square drive are available in lengths of 1-1/4" - 4-1/4" and are packaged 100/box with a masonry carbide tip drill and a #3 square driver.
  • Tap Grip® fasteners, with truss head recessed #3 square drive are available in lengths of 1-1/4" - 8" and are packaged 100/box with a masonry carbide tip drill and a #3 square driver.
  • All fasteners can also be purchased in bulk, 1,000/box.
  • TRU-KOTE PC-3™ coating meets or exceeds FM4470 corrosion standards and withstands 30 cycles of the Kesternich DIN 500018 SFW 2.0 tests and a 1000 hr. salt spray ASTM B117 test.

Tap-Grip® Fastener
A. Determine the thickness of materials to be anchored.
B. Allow a minimum of 1" of thread embedment.
C. Predrill the
pilot hole with a standard 3/16" masonry bit.
D. When predrilling allow an extra 1/2" of drilling depth for debris.

Masonry Drill Bits Selection
To determine length:

  • Allow approx. 2" of shank into drill chuck.
  • Allow for 1/2" extra drilling depth for debris.
  • Add for thickness of material to be anchored.
    EXAMPLE:
Drill - 2", 1/2" for debris, and 2" material to be anchored = Bit length total of 4-1/2".

Note: All tests were conducted by an independent testing laboratory. Results of these tests are offered only as a guide and are not guaranteed in any way by TRU-FAST CORPORATION. Designated holding values depend on the quality of materials being anchored to. TRU-FAST CORPORATION recommends that pull-out tests be conducted to verify that the substrate provides adequate pull-out values. A safety factor of 4:1 or 25% of ultimate pull-out value is generally accepted as a safe work load. However, codes for specific safe working ratios may differ, and this is the responsibility of the purchaser or end user to obtain this information. Performance of Tap-Grip® fasteners will vary in different concrete aggregates.
